Annie probably thought she was retired for as often as she gets ridden. Peg took her out three or four times this year so far this month. We went to Little Manatee and then to Palma Solo. She's been out to Griffin and to Deep Creek as well. She's such a good girl, very happy. And we bought her a bonnet for the trailer since she has a habit of whacking her head. She's getting better about trailering.
She's just hesitant, and she expects to be punished for it. So she balks and if you move, she thinks you are going to whack her so she flies backwards.
We just take it slow and walk her in a straight line to the open trailer, stepping in. If she balks, we give her a moment to decide, and if she doesn't come forward when asked, then she lunges a few circles behind the trailer. Usually one round is enough and she's like, "Ok I want in the trailer now." and in she goes.
Cody has learned to wait for her to go in before he does. The first couple of times he was upset that he had to wait for her. He's used to putting himself in the trailer and he's very greedy about his window. He trailers looking out the front window so when she goes in first, has to push her aside to look out the window. They are such characters.
This video was taken right before our ride. We let them blow off some steam before we loaded them.
